My New Years Resolutions for 2011
Inspired in part by @fillup’s post here I’m going to this whole resolutions things this year. Like him, I’ve always thought resolutions were a tad bullshitty but he has a point: maybe “bullshit resolutions ate bullshit”. I was thinking about doing this for the first time this year and now that fillup has thrown down the gauntlet, I have to follow through. So here...

Movie Mashup of the Day: Leandro “Copperfield” Braga of “Tarantino vs Coen Brothers” and “Kubrick vs Scorsese” fame spent 11 days re-watching all 11 Pixar feature films released to date in order to piece together this rather stellar mashup of over 500 hand-selected scenes.
Braga says:
Pixar’s films have always been very important in my life. I was 6 years old when I watched Toy...
Scott Adams Blog: Tax the Comfortable 12/27/2010 →
“My own view, as a member of the Suckers group, is that if economists determine that the best way to make the country solvent is to increase my taxes, I’m willing to look at those numbers. I’m a practical guy. But I do resent being gang raped by the Rich and the Majority while they high-five each other and call it fairness. And I’d feel a little better about it if the...
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings Responds to Whitney... →
This is awesome. Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix, offers an effective point by point take down of the argument to be short Netflix.
Also, I love the disclosures at the end, just in case there was ANY confusion at all:

Downtown LA Tops City of Industry as Ideal Site... →
Even though putting a football stadium downtown would create such insane traffic on Sundays that even the likes of LA has ever seen, it would further develop the awesomeness of downtown LA and truly make it a destination. It’s almost there with Staples Center and LA Live, but the addition of a stadium and a football team would put it over the top imo.

“This privacy policy may change at any time. In fact, it’s changed three times since we first started typing this. Good luck figuring out how, because we’re sure as hell not going to tell you. But then, you probably stopped reading after paragraph three.”

41Latitude - Google Maps & Label Readability →
“Google uses a variety of techniques and visual tricks to help make its city labels much more readable than those of its competitors. From the use of different shadings to decluttering areas outside of major metro areas, it sure seems like Google has put a lot of thought into how it displays the labels appearing on its maps. I have no doubt that little touches like these are among the many...
