“Apple consistently creates an unpacking process that reflects the care and attention to detail found in the product within. Perhaps that’s why I was a bit surprised by the iPad’s first time experience.”
This frustration of setting up the iPad was worse for me since I got mine the day I moved up to the bay area. My desktop was packed away and I had to unpack my computer,...

@joshuago - Slowing down as an immersive... →
Good post by a smart guy (and fellow JibJabber) on the benefits of slowing down and letting it all soak in.
I was definitely one of the Cliffs Notes crowd. If I was engaged, I slowed down a little bit, but by and large, I did enough to get by and move on to the next battle.
But when I did slow down to soak it all in, the time I allowed myself to reflect allowed me to consider the subject at hand...

This phone looks awesome. Too bad it’s only on Verizon and I am stuck with AT&T is the hell that is the AT&T Bay Area “coverage” zone.

Windows/Mac + iPad/iPhone: Back in February we highlighted Air Video, an incredibly cool app that streams any video from your computer to your iPhone, no matter the format. Now it’s updated…

Absolutely agree. I’ve found that the best app for the iPad is the entire web. I’m in it more than any other app.
If you have been reading this blog from time to time or even with some regularity, you’ll know that I’m a bigger fan of the open mobile web than mobile apps. At least from a philosophical point of view especially in a world of private APIs and app stores play the role...
9-Bits: Watch Your Language →
The new iPhone developer agreement which Apple posted yesterday has caused a bit of a stir in the development community. Due to the wording, it is currently unclear whether or not certain development platforms will be able to continue delivering iPhone apps — most notably affecting companies…
Wait, is the tone and language of Adobe’s post really the biggest issue here?...

fillup!?: Why Apple is fighting Flash CS5 →
Good perspective on Apple’s decision to reject Flash CS5 as a development tool for its platform.
I’ve written about this before, and I will probably do so again. Read this comment thread first: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1250946 .
There are two helpful historical analogues to Apple’s behavior regarding the iPhone OS. First, there is the console market (read my earlier...
You look where they look - UsableWorld →
This is something newspaper editors and other people who design with layout in mind have known for years, now applied to the web with usability analysis to back it up.
“People look at other people’s faces.
In advertising we will look at what the person we see in an ad is looking at. If they are looking out at us we will simply look back at them and not really anywhere else.
Faces can be...

This is such a bad move. You can just feel other countries getting further and further ahead of us in the innovation space while we have to waste time and energy to fight against the telco’s.

I agree, when compared against the iPad, the Kindle device loses a lot of its luster. However, when you compare the iBooks apps against the Kindle app, the Kindle app wins outright. It’s just way easier to use. No fake page turning, no fake wood grain bookshelf. Just a great reading experience. @pvponline said it best...

Agreed. The amount of shovel/crap ware in the iPad app store is appalling. It’s actually insulting to think you can get away with charging 2-2.5x for an app that is just up-ressed.
It’s actually depressed my willingness to buy anything from the iPad app store, since I don’t trust anything I see in there actually being worth the cash.

I love watching baseball, but the reason why I love baseball the business/sport is the mass of stats and numbers that are available to you. The numbers are all there for you, and if you want to really figure out who are the best players, you can dive right in and find out.
Funny fact: I actually learned how to use Excel by parsing baseball stats for one of my fantasy baseball leagues way back in...

This looks great. Now I just hope they wise up, let me buy a subscription to the titles I want and let me read them on the iPad at the same time they are delivered to stores.

or “Why we buy things which we don’t need but want.” This is a fascinating post that puts into concrete terms the ideas and concepts we already use in our businesses.
Funny thing too; after reading this article all I can think is, “I need to buy this book.”
